...No he ain't gonna die
After a drought so terrible that the rising salt levels in the Australian desert pales into significance (if in doubt as to what that means ask a Geographer) I am back into this blog writing malarky. The reason this event has taking place is basically that I remembered what my pass word was and can now get back into the thing.
I got a bit of news for everyone, in keeping with my goal of going to live in some little Irish Village I am about to sign a contract to go teaching in South Korea, as soon as the little people over there fork out the cash for my ticket. I have not yet got any idea where I will be going, as long as it is in the South and not the North I'm really too worried cause A. I have only heard of Seoul, B. What difference will it make to a kiwi who can't speak Korean, C. They all look alike so I can transfer that knowledge to all places looking alike and D. I don't care as long as it is out of New Zealand.
They are giving me a sweet deal, return airfares, pay half of my medical insurance, free accomodation for a year, a salary much higher than I got when teaching in New Zealand and make me a millionaire (in Korean money any way) And apparently only a 5% tax rate, but I don't believe that one.
Any one got tips about being a laid back Ginga Rooster in an Asian country? Like where can you get a decent beer? Where the best place to get kicked out of concerts is? And I'm 5 foot 10, will this make me a towering giant with red hair or just another alcoholic school teacher?
I've been watching reruns of M*A*S*H 4077th as research, it's on at half 11 on T.V 3 week days, it's great working in a bar where you don't start work early like every one else. And I get free pints of Lager.
Big Pick 6 this weekend at Hastings, if in doubt anchor everything with Darci Brahma and pick the rest through drunken eyes, I'll come up with my picks later on, I challenge Jimmy Jangles to a bet.

Angst
I'm starting to get angsty, I wanna go cruise the world and the bloody British High Commission is fucking around and taking their time to give me a visa. I reckon I'll be outta here in four weeks tops, which means I'm gonna hitch on down to Welly and knock on the door of the Commission and ask whats up and explain to them that they need me to enhance their sporting stock as I qualify for an Irish passport and I am thinking of taking up rugby as I feel I have an even chance of making the British and Irish Lions squad for their next tour.

New Years.
Today is New Years Day, I can honestly say that I havn't had a beer all year, the Guinness in the wee small hours don't count. I had a pretty quiet time, Six of us sat around home drinking, slowly but assuredly getting drunk. I was mixing my drinks but keep an eye on myself as I definitely did not want a repeat of myBoxing Day hang over. After the lamest countdown since Europe we had a few more beers then went into little ole Havelock North. I led everyone straight to The Rose and Shamrock where there was a half decent covers band playing good sing a long songs, the whole night was pretty uneventful, but thats the way it goes sometimes.
Today I did the time honoured Ryan tradition of going to the races. The place was packed with hung over people. I was one. I gambled away all my savings. It was probably just as well that I didn't feel like drinking as I got breath tested on the way out, I'm watching a movie called Garden State. It's got that dude from Scrubs in it. It has a few moments but.....

Christmas is all good.
For Christmas I gave my self a hangover, it was a bad bad present, lasted for two days, so bad on Boxing Day I fell asleep on Waimarama Beach and burnt myself to a crisp... again. I reckon I got a good haul of presents, my favourite had to be a little chilly bin that fits a sixer in it. I tried it out twice. A Dozen Lion Brown to start my day off with. And what's even better is the dam thing worked, I had cold beers without having to get up to the fridge. I even managed to somehow bring it home with me via the taxi, I left all my other presents behind. When I got home I fell over while attempting to play the guitar, I broke a coffee table, I also woke up with bruises on my arms where my bro picked me up, I just don't remember.
You just can't beat a full on Turkey for lunch. Cheers Matt and Bron. Then a Butterfly leg of lamb on the barbie. Cheers Dad. Followed up by the Leg of Ham in the fridge at home, Cheers Mum.
Bring on New Years. Ann if you are reading this do not return home early, like on New Years Eve, you may regret it. Just in preparation, where do you keep the carpet cleaner?

The Next Seven
Ok, I've been having a think about the best songs in the world, I realise that every one is different and has different tastes in every thing but I reckon if one of these songs dosn't make you nod your head you must be a sad, sad person.
The above three stand proud.
4) My Hero FOO FIGHTERS
5) Kashmir LED ZEP
6) Civil War GUNS AND ROSES
7) Shade SILVERCHAIR
8) Next Time SUPERGROOVE
9) One U.2
10) Pardon Me (Acoustic Version) INCUBUS
In saying this I don't necessarily think that those 10 bands are the best, but that those songs are the best. I'm saving the best bands for when I run out of something to say.

Hi Mum, Hi Dad.
Yesterday I went out to Castlepoint beach and caught a few fish, I also managed to drink a dozen Tui and burn my face the colour of my mane. I was successful with my first cast, hooked up a beauty of a Kahawai and then Tangaroa managed to hide all his fish from me for a few hours. The tide was falling and we knew that we would have to wait for the tide to push again so occupied ourselves with a few beers, keeping our eye on the water, which incidently was a turquoise colour which means the water is clear and coldish. That is good. About three hours from high tide the fish started biting again and Johan and myself pulled in 5 Carpet Sharks, 1 Spiny Dog Fish, 1 smallish Gurnard and my prize fish, only rumoured to habit the Wairarapa coastline infrequently a Snapper, bloody good size too. Fried that sucker up. It was a pretty good day out there, especially as we were the only people out there who were actually catching any thing! Suckers, they should have honed their skills with an Eastern Province Fishing Champ!
Not much has been happening, so I'm gonna write a list of the 3 best songs in the world, feel free as no doubt (Won't make the list) you will any way.
1) Smells Like Teen Spirit NIRVANA
2) Rooster ALICE IN CHAINS
3) Creep STONE TEMPLE PILOTS
I've just realised how hard it is too pick the best songs so I'm gonna go have a think about it and will get back to you all on that.

Gambling is for both winners and losers.
Well, I know that this is my third posting of the day but in my defence I gotta say I'm unemployed, and am excited about my new toy. I have just been on the TAB site gambling and have come up with what many fools think is a sure way to make money. Back the favourites. I'm very partial to multi bets so I decided that I gotta back some favourites who are actually paying out some cash worth talking about. This is my plan. I have backed the favourites of major sporting tornaments around the world as everyone has a fair idea of who can win but in a tornament its on the day and you have gotta have many good days so therefore with my four beers downed by a quarter to 3 logic they should be paying more. I was right, I have just forked out 10 bucks on some sports that I know jack all about. Here's what I have done.
2005/06 STANLEY CUP WINNER $5.00 OTAWWA SENATORS.
2005/06 HEINEKIN CUP $3.25 TOULOUSE
2005/06 GUINNESS PREMIERSHIP $2.75 SALE SHARKS
2006 SIX NATIONS $2.10 FRANCE
2005/06 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE $5.00 CHELSEA
2006 SUPER 14 $3.25 CRUSADERS
SPANISH PRIMERA LIGA $1.15 BARCELONA
2005/06 COCA COLA CUP $1.70 READING
2005/06 N.Z FOOTBALL CHAMPS $2.70 AUCKLAND CITY
2005/06 CARLING CUP $2.75 ARSENAL
I know it is very far fetched but if you multiply all the dividends together then multiply it by my stake of $10, a few pigs sprout wings and I just may have nearly a quarter Mill deposit on a bach with a fucken big fence.

He ain't gonna die
I mainly only read three other blogs, and one of them by this cock I know not through choice (You can pick ya mates but not your family) and he is currently having a wha ove this fulla called Kayne West. I don't have a clue who he is but surely Bono, The Edge, Adam and Larry Jr. can't get it that wrong, or are those crazy Irish men fucked up on Guinness and Johnnie? If so that could explain it because I know from many past binges that those two in combination can make any shit music pass as listenable. I am gonna have to investigate.
One good thing about living in the whops is that I only get Am radio (Go Radio Sport) and so don't hear crap pop music about British and American wankers. I'm stuck in my solid rock foundations of loud guitars, loud bass led by loud drums, with a few lyrics thrown over the top to make you think. And to drawl to whilst hanging out with Johnnie.
I said in my last post that I was going fishing today but that plan has changed and I'll go out for my last hurrah at Castlepoint for some time on Sunday with my fishing mate Johan, he's a top shelf fisherman who has taught me heaps and is one of the few people I know who can handsomely drink me under the table. I had better sort out getting a few shots on this blog.
Here they come to snuff the Rooster.

Popped My Blog Cherry
Well here I am, sitting smoking at the computer, checking out a few mates blogs when I remembered a conversation from the pub last night about blogs and setting one up of my own. So I have. I'm gonna write on this thing all about my future travels which will be starting in January of next year where I will be doing the Kiwi thing of heading out for my O.E, at the mo I am currently sorting out a visa to get my ass in, I'm able to hook myself up with a "Grandparent" Visa which lets me live and work in the U.K for up to four years. Here's hoping I won't be there for four years but it gives me lots of options.
Currently I am unemployed as I have quit my job as a School teacher at Rathkeale College in Masterton, a retired teacher at 26, got out a year too late I reckon. It was mainly good with a couple of shit days thrown in. That sounds like all the jobs I have ever had. One thing I know is that I will not be doing it over in Britain, it would be all right if it wasn't for those fucken school kids.
I'm off for a fish tomorrow at Castlepoint Beach, then heading home to sponge of who ever I can in Hawkes Bay before heading off to the enemies homeland to land a plumb job make enough moola to spend my time fishing and diving, with extended bouts of drinking in between.
